How does automatic watch work?

Hi there,

An automatic watch is mechanical and has no battery.

When you wear the watch, a counterweight inside spins around and winds up the mainspring.

When fully wound ( wear for around 5 - 6 hours with moderate movement) the watch will go
for around 8 hours when taken off and laid still.

The watch can also be hand wound to power the maispring before putting on the wrist.

Pluses are it's a "real" watch! Minuses if you dont wear it for a day or 2 it will stop and be at the wrong
time when you go to put it on.
