Sekonda began with a small collection of mechanical watches but soon became a household name. Throughout the 1960’s, the Sekonda brand grew, moving its offices to Leicestershire where the brand is still based today. In the late 1970’s, Sekonda switched from producing mechanical watches to quartz battery models made in Asia. Sekonda introduced more styles to their lines, influenced by the fashion market, providing stylish watches at great value and in 1988 became the UK’s best selling watch brand (a title we held for 31 consecutive years).

Sekonda has a rich history of iconic campaigns during the 1980s and 90s. including the renowned steamroller advert, introducing the famous tagline ‘beware of expensive imitations’. Other campaigns have featured famous comedians and musicians of the generation such as Bob Monkhouse, Ronnie Barker and Madness. Most recently in 2021, Sekonda’s advert featured the voice of comedian Reginald D. Hunter, kicking off the new No Time For Nonsense campaign.
